And so it begins.
50 before 50.

While none of my 50 ideas are in any particular order, the first one out of the gate took me by surprise. While I had already decided I would research how to volunteer at our local polling venue for the mid-term elections, imagine my delight when the county actually sent out a call for those to help.
How did I not know these positions were paid?
Perk.
Hey, I’m self-employed. Don’t knock me for being excited about being paid to serve.
I wasted no time and called to get my name on the list.
That call turned into an interview.
That interview resulted in my being asked to serve as the Election Judge for my district.
While I hesitated at first, it was my son who urged me to say yes.
“Mom, this is perfect for 50 before 50 and you’ve wanted to help, so you should totally do this.”
There will be training. There will be machines to pick up and deliver to our location. There will be a 7AM-8PM shift on election day. There will be election results to deliver to the courthouse when the polls close.
Zane said he would do coffee runs for me, as I won’t be able to leave the location.
In my excitement over saying yes, I was concerned that my serving as Judge would disqualify me from actively working on a campaign, which is ALSO on my list.
Thankfully, it won’t be an issue.
