Ok, folks.

I have to fess up.

I don’t think I’m going to make it to 50.

Hold up. That didn’t sound right.

I’m not referring to age 50!

(You can all let out a sign of relief now.)

As for my glorious plan to experience 50 unique opportunities BEFORE 50?

My season of life is not jiving well with this plan.

But, I’m a Coach. I help people create goals and take baby steps to achieve them and celebrate the beauty of making consistent small changes. And thus, this is what I’m going to do. This is not to say I’m abandoning the overall goal. But why not allow myself the ability to enjoy the process by extending the list INTO my 50th year? Who says I have to follow a rule that says all 50 experiences must be completed by July 23, 2019?

Nah. I’m not going to follow some unwritten rule.

How about I just commit to saying “YES” to new experiences as I enter and within my 50th year?

There. I feel better. Are we all on the same page now?

Moving on.

I phone-banked! For Amy Fazio who ran for State Representative in PA. Phone-banking was a blast.

And, interesting.

There was the man who told me to “Shut the hell up,” when I told him Amy was a Democrat.

There was the woman with whom I shared spaghetti squash recipes after chatting about Amy’s platforms.

There were hang-ups.

There were people on my list who I actually knew (as they take my fitness classes).

There was the “How did you get my number?”

There was the “Yes, she has my vote.”

There were Wednesday night gatherings with other phone-bankers and postcard writers, all fueled with a desire to make positive changes in politics beginning at the local level.

I won’t run for office. But I can support those who have the courage and conviction to do so.

And I won’t even be offended when someone on the other end calls me “honey” and an “ass”.

It’s the least I can do.
