Weather is a funny thing, ain’t it?
The winter was long. And very dark. Having lived in Chicago for 18 years prior to Pittsburgh, I am used to cold temps and snow . . . but not the gray skies. Those gray skies kicked my PittsburghMom patootie.
Spring was kind of a blip on the radar – showed up briefly, only to turn into summer without even stopping to chat . . .
Summer came – and that week long heat-wave that finally had us turning on the air conditioner in July, as we didn’t need it prior to that.
And now . . . um, Fall-like weather. It just hasn’t been typical.
Has that affected our summer?
Nope.
Sure, there has been rain.
But there have also been more museum trips for me and my kiddos this summer.
Sure, it hasn’t been warm enough for too many pool days.
But how glorious to be on our bikes with a breeze in our faces.
Sure, we’ve not had any vacation time away this summer, for we took it in March.
But, we’ve had time together at the archery club, with friends, taking yoga together, hiking, and lots of trips to our local coffee shop. And who knew my son would like indoor floor hockey?!
Am I anxious for school to start? A little – only because I crave a bit more order (which, honestly, who knows what that will look like in the Fall ,for I’m going to start home-schooling one . . .).
Am I still pondering a few small getaways before school starts? Yes. And biking some trails downtown. And, well, there’s also that zombie race I’m running this weekend – look for the undead Amelia Earhart.
But, for the most part, it’s been a calm and cool summer.
And pretty low key.
Except for the usual brother and sister fights from time to time. Which, literally, as I’m writing this, just broke through my content state and with screams and accusations.
Sigh.
But, it’s cool.
What do you have planned for the remainder of the summer??? And what should I add to my “must do in August” list before school starts????
