Seek to Serve

Are your eyes open? Open to the needs around you? I'll admit. My eyes aren't always focused outside of myself. Well . . . wait a minute. I SEE the needs. I have momentary urges to "help" in some way. But, sadly, I don't always follow those urges and SERVE. I have great intentions. Maybe not the greatest follow-through when the Holy Spirit nudges. A few weeks ago, I was told our church would be facilitating a free basketball camp in a neighboring city where we also opened a community center. So far, other than a few visits to The [...]

Family Matters

I've been reading The Attentive Life: Discerning God's Presence in All Things with a few friends this summer. Can you say, "conviction"? As someone who works from home, it is often difficult for me to close up. Completely. Sure, I can turn off the computer, ignore calls, texts, FB msg's, and emails, but it's my brain that I find difficult to "clock out." Appointment with ME

In the past three years I have experienced a physical transformation. Fitness and solid nutrition have become daily, habitual disciplines for me. Getting here was a lot of work. I've been enjoying two daily devotionals. I'm about to start a 90 day online webinar course to help improve my home business. Lately, I've been researching moving to a more vegi-centric diet. I am committed to be a life-long learner. I don't watch much TV. I don't play Facebook games. I plan my day, have short-term and long term goals, and Finish what I start. The term "personal development" gets a [...]

Self Appointed Appointments

This week at Daily Fast Fuel we are talking about . . . You. Me. Ourselves. Caring, developing, growing, stretching, educating, changing, goal-setting, reaching . . . Who drives us to do so? Well, you should know us well enough by now - we follow Jesus. And He is definitely in the business of developing people.  So, let's take a break for some self-care. For we all need to secure our oxygen masks first - to INSURE we can secure the masks for others. Ready. Set. Development. Joline Atkins is your server today! Find out more about her here and [...]

Intentional Appointments with Others

Intentional. With a husband, children, home-business, family schedule, and church calendar (my husband is an Associate Pastor), I could easily miss out on actual fellowship if I left it to chance. Spontaneity? I'm not in college any longer - jonesing for a pizza at 2 AM, and thus, gathering dorm-mates and placing an order, just 'cause we can, doesn't happen any longer. Life is a tad bit more crowed these days. But, that is NO EXCUSE for NOT getting together in fellowship with other believers . . . it just means we must be intentional about doing so. I have [...]
